Ace of Cups

The Ace of Cups represents a new feeling, a new start, a fresh future.

I made sure to put a mouth somewhere on every Cup card - this one's reflected in the teacup, which I think is kind of a cute touch. I used to read tea leaves, and I bet I still could if I had a good book on the subject!

To Top

A cup of green tea with a gently smiling mouth reflected in its surface.
Two people holding cups and kissing.

Two of Coins

The Two of Cups is a card of romance, love, and support.

Lookit these two lovers makin' out! I like the way their colors bleed into each other at the kiss. It's sweet.

Three of Cups

The Three of Cups represents relaxation, joy, celebration with loved ones!

I love the way the dresses came out in this print - neon watercolor makes such lovely fabrics, I think. I also like the way the cups themselves are arranged, making these party girls feel more united.

To Top

Three cups, with one held by the viewer and two held by celebrating women.
A veiled vigure with four cups arranged behind their head.

Four of Cups

This card represents idleness, boredom, and taking things for granted.

I always use the same hatching brush when planning my tarot cards to make sure they're uniform. This one made me really happy because of the way this hatching conveys the veil!

Five of Cups

Five of Cups represents loss, sorrow, and short-sightedness.

Bleh! For some reason this card is kind of funny to me. But, the feeling of throwing up your sorrows feels right for this card, too.

To Top

A face throwing up purple fluid and several cups contributing to the outpouring.
Two figures embrace. One kisses the other on the cheek.

Six of Cups

This card represents nostalgia and simple, quiet joys.

I'm especially happy with how this card came out. It makes me feel all snuggly.

Seven of Cups

This card represents priorities, the need to ask yourself "what do I really want?"

This might be my favorite of the Cups. I love how the glossy lips and bright-white fangs came out - it has a kind of retro-horror feel, like there's a trap waiting.

To Top

A fanged mouth smiling and licking its lips, surrounded by cups with various symbols in them. They contain a heart, a star, seeds, a sheaf of wheat, a flower, a sword, and the astrological symbol for the Sun.
A mouth spouting purple liquid in which eight cups are flowing.

Eight of Cups

The Eight of Coins is about departure, the end, and goodbyes.

It looks like an old fountain, doesn't it? At least, that was my goal!

Nine of Cups

The Nine of Cups represents a wish coming true, happiness, and minor miracles.

For this card I looked up wish superstitions, and found that a ladybug landing on you means you get to make a wish! Hence the ladybug on the figure's cheek.

To Top

A figure adorned with nine cups, smiling as a ladybug sits on their cheek.
A figure in a suit across the table from the viewer with ten coffee cups between them.

Ten of Cups

Ten of Cups is a card of acceptance, of finding the right place to fully bloom and be accepted for who you are.

Something about this mysterious person in the tie is very compelling to me. Perhaps they're the one who will accept you for who you are! Perhaps this is a job interview for a place with just the right culture to make you feel happy.

Page of Cups

The pages can be said to deliver important news, so this page brings news of love, hope, and other emotional things.

I'm naive and a little childish so I see this as a message heart candy. You know, the ones that say things like "LOVE U" - you know, page as messenger? Then my friend said it looked like drugs and welp, oops.

To Top

A young-looking person with their tongue extended, hiding behind a cup. A yellow heart sits on their tongue.
A kneeling knight with a cup on their helmet kisses a hand dressed in a long robe.

Knight of Cups

The Knight of Cups is a poet, a romantic, someone whose quest revolves around emotion and feeling and truth.

I'm a sucker for a knight motif, so I wanted to depict this very courtly kiss on the poetic Knight of Cups card. Are you the one being kissed, or are you the knight offering fealty to your beloved?

Queen of Cups

The Queen of Cups rules with kindness, gentleness, and love. She's often depicted as a warm and gentle figure, alongside a fish.

Keeping with the bunny ears of the Queen of Coins, I made the Queen of Cups a fishlike character, like a mermaid Queen. I like the confidence in her eyes, she seems like she understands herself.

To Top

A woman with fish fins raises a cup high and looks at the viewer.
A man pouring water over himself from a large cup and laughing.

King of Cups

The King of Coins is a kind and joyful figure, though he's often also got a hidden meaning of substance abuse and lack of self-control.

This guy is popular among my friends for his joyous energy. He's a one-man wet t-shirt contest and he left the t-shirt at home! Something about him makes him seem approachable and fun to be around.
